    Wireless is transmitting signals over invisible radio waves instead of wires and devices that can do that is called wireless devices. The first wireless devices are garage door openers and remote controls for television. Today we now have a lot of wireless devices we commonly use such as wireless keyboards, mice, and digital and cellular phones. It goes down to simply knowing wireless devices are a kind of communication equipment that does not require wires to relay information to another device. It can also be sometimes referred to as those networking devices that can pass data to other wireless network gear without being physically connected.

    Types of Wireless Devices
     

    1. Wireless Router - this act as a medium between the internet connection and other wireless device and accepts incoming internet connections, then send the data in radio frequency signals to nearby wireless devices. Today's wireless routers have built-in security features protecting connected devices from malicious attacks and viruses. 2. Wireless Adapters - this is a hardware device installed inside the computer to make wireless connectivity work and gain internet access. Most wireless adapters today are found in their motherboard. 3. Wireless phones - these cordless and cellular phones use wireless signals for communication. They have an extensive range that helps you connect to your mobile network. 4. Wireless Repeaters - these devices extend the range of a router and boost its signal strength. Its role is to get wireless signals and then re-emit them after increasing their power making your connection speed faster. 5. Other devices - other devices use RF signals like walkie-talkies, baby monitors, and garage door openers. How Wireless Devices Connect to a Network a. You have to find your device's wireless settings menu and select Enable or Turn On your Wi-Fi. b. Next, you select your network's SSID from the list and enter the network key or passphrase when prompted and then select ''Connect'' or Join the network. c. You can opt to connect automatically or remember the network if you want your device to connect to the network without entering the credentials again. d. Once you enter the correct credentials, your device will be connected and can get access to the internet. What does the Color of the Wi-Fi light mean? * No Color - means wireless is OFF * Flickering green - means your wireless is ON, but the data is being transmitted *  Solid Green - Wireless is ON but no data is being transmitted * Amber - this means wireless is temporarily disabled using the wireless schedule feature set up in the modem's settings.
